The Headless Horsman



This is a statue of what most people imagine to be the headless horseman or Sleepy Hollow. There are variations to the story, and it is often said that the rider carries a pumpkin as a replacment for his head.

Summary of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow

The story the Legend of Sleepy Hollow is mainly for kids ages 7-14. It is a story almost all of us have heard, and one that most people are familiar with.


The following is a summary of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow:

The story begins by introducing Ichabod Crane, a school teacher in a nearby village. He is a tall, cowardly man, with a huge appetite. Not to mention his taste in the ladies. He lives a good life, but it soon changes when he meets a girl known as Katrina Van Tassle. The moment he sees the girl he falls hopelessly in love, and begins to follow her everywhere. Also going after the love of Katrina is the town rowdy, Brom Bones. After leaving a party at the Van Tassle's, Ichabod wanders into the forest on his way home, only to meet the ghost known as the headless horseman. After that day, Crane was never seen again.
